H-E-B Corp was greeted by hundreds of people at the opening in McKinney on July 19, reportedly attracting more than 400 people in line.

The specifics of H-E-B Corp in McKinney

There is a full-service pharmacy with a drive-through at the McKinney location:

  • A full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru
  • A fuel station with a car wash
  • An outdoor seasonal essentials department
  • A drive-thru restaurant serving authentic Texas barbecue

The shop will also include a wide selection of beer and wine, a deli, a bakery, a tortilla with two tortilla machines, and live cooking demos at its culinary Connections station, according to the business's website. At the McKinney location, curbside and delivery services will be offered.

According to corporate reps, the location, run by the top leader of the store Matt LoBello, employs 750 employees overall, with the majority of hourly roles starting at $15 per hour.

Florence Butt launched the family-run supermarket in 1905, and it now has more than 420 sites throughout Texas and Mexico.

How we arrived at H‑E‑B Corp?

The 118,000-square-foot shop, next to Custer Road at 8700 Eldorado Parkway, was announced in the middle of 2021.

The project's construction started in March 2022. Before the McKinney store opened improvements were also made to nearby roads, notably Eldorado Parkway.

In September, the Frisco location of the first H-E-B Corp in the Dallas–Fort Worth region opened, and in November, the Plano location did as well. Along with a second Frisco facility, H-E-B Corporate stores are planned for Allen, Alliance, and Mansfield in the DFW region.

What they are expressing about H‑E‑B Corp?

A July 18 ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by McKinney Mayor George Fuller, McKinney municipal Council members, municipal employees, and H-E-B Corp executives.

Fuller highlighted that the company's charitable endeavors in the neighborhood started as soon as the McKinney store's development got underway.

“How exciting it is to have a company like H-E-B Corp here,” Fuller said. “What it brings to the community certainly as a store—118,000 [square] feet, this is awesome—but what they bring in just human values, in philanthropy to the community, they’re really an incredible company, an incredible corporate partner, and we are so, so blessed to have you guys here.”

H-E-B Corp executives gave a $10,000 contribution to the Heard Natural Scientific Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, a scientific museum and wildlife center with locations in McKinney, to celebrate the store's opening.

“We truly believe that giving back not only allows us to better serve you in our stores but more importantly, allows us to create strong communities where each and every person counts,” said Juan-Carlos Ruck, executive vice president of the H-E-B Corp Northwest food and drug division, of the donation.

H-E-B Corp officials gave $50,000 during the McKinney store's groundbreaking ceremony in early 2022, including $10,000 in gifts to City Church, Community Garden Kitchen, Hugs Café, Love Life Foundation, and Seed Project Foundation.
